“I appreciate that the whole concept of a mid-life crisis might be a little cliché, but this is where I found myself around 2 years ago…..
Approaching 40, realising I was burning out from having worked ridiculous hours during my career in recruitment and business consultancy, I needed a break and time to assess what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life….Not one for doing things by half I sold my house, turned by back on my career, bought a motorhome and headed off travelling in search of new beginnings.
During my travels I met up with an old friend, over drinks, who had just been through a mediation as he simply didn’t have the money to take his issues to court. I recalled my own experience of seeing a mediator, where no word of a lie, he actually fell asleep during a rather lengthy and heated argument! My friend however had a far more productive experience and I realised that most of my professional career had been spent mediating to a degree. Queue an inebriated “light bulb” moment, qualifying as a civil and commercial mediator and the rest as they say is history!
Now I spend my time helping individuals and business come to agreements on a wide range of issues. Every day is different, every dispute unique and challenging in its own right, and I love every minute of it!”
